A parliamentary body has asked state-run television and radio not to be "over enthusiastic" in its coverage of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on information ministry said the independence leader had already won the hearts of 150 million people through his contribution to the nation.
"He needs no new portrayal in television and radio," said Obaidul Quader.
"So, the committee has asked Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar not to be over enthusiastic in their publicity of Bangabandhu," he told journalists after its meeting at parliament building.
"We have warned the heads of television and radio not to practice excessive praise".
Directors general of BTV and Betar were present at the meeting.
The committee chairman said, "Too much praise of government becomes counter-productive.
"We have to take lessons from the past."
Govt offices, schools to hang portrait of 'Bangabandhu' All public offices, educational institutions and missions abroad will from now hang the portrait of independence architect 'Bangabandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an official has said.
The cabinet at a meeting Monday made the decision, the prime minister's press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters at a briefing at the Secretariat.
The portrait of the head of the government will also be hung, Azad said.
The meeting, chaired by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, also approved National Information and Communications Technology Regulations 2009, Insurance Control Authority Act 2009 and the Insurance Act 2009, the press secretary said.
