The namaj-e-janaza of the 48 army officers including BDR director general Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed, his wife Nazneen Shakil and a soldier killed during the Feb 25 armed rebellion at the BDR headquarters was held on Monday.
Dhaka cantonment Kendriyo Jame Masjid khatib Md Mahmudul Haque conducted the prayers at around 10:45 am at the National Parade Ground.
President Zillur Rahman, army chief Gen Moeen U Ahmed, cabinet members, former army chief Lt Gen (retired) Mahbubur Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Abdur Razzak and a number of political leaders, freedom fighters, professionals and civil society representatives joined the janaza.
The president offered wreaths on the coffins of the deceased after the janaza.
