The National Board of Revenue Monday filed a case against Tarique Rahman on charges of suppressing information about income and evading income tax.
Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge Md Azizul Haque ordered the authorities to take Tarique, the elder son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, to court on Aug 7 after NBR deputy tax inspector Shamima Akhter filed the case.
Tarique concealed information about Tk 1 crore in income earned from various sources in 2002-2005 tax years, according to case details.
The BNP leader also evaded taxes worth Tk 26.86 lakh on the income.
Tarique, who was arrested on March 8 last year, is currently under treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
He stands accused in 13 cases.
