Shamim Iskander, younger brother of Khaleda Zia, was arrested in front of the former prime minister's Dhaka Cantonment home Friday night, a police officer said.
Fazlul Haque, officer-in-charge of the Kafrul Police Station, told bdnews24.com that Shamim was arrested just before 10pm.
Assistant police commissioner for Mirpur Zone Emdadul Haque told . "Shamim Iskander was arrested in a case filed by the Anticorruption Commission with Ramna police. We assisted Ramna police in the arrest."
Family members told bdnews24.com that Shamim had arrived at the house in the evening to visit his nephew Arafat Rahman Coco, who was released Thursday on 8 weeks' medical parole.
He was picked up as he left the Shahid Mainul Road residence.
Shamim figured on an ACC list of top graft suspects in March last year. He submitted a wealth statement of Tk 3.75 crore to the ACC on June 10, 2007.
A flight engineer for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, his name has also been linked to financial irregularities regarding Biman's operations.
