Speaker Abdul Hamid administered oaths to forty-five new women MPs, elected to reserved seats, on Sunday.
Thirty-six new Awami League MPs, five of BNP and four of Jatiya Party were sworn in at the Jatiya Sangsad oath-taking room.
Chief whip Abdus Shaheed said the newly sworn in MPs would take their seats as parliament resumes its session in the afternoon after a nine-day recess.
The women MPs were elected unopposed on Mar 19, as parties nominated exactly 45 candidates to the reserved women's seats, allotted on party strength.
The EC held the presidential election, followed by elections to the women's reserved seats, on schedule following the Dec. 29 general elections last year.
