The newly-appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque has put the force on alert against militants.
"Militants are raising their heads, be on guard," he told police of all ranks in a meeting at Rajarbagh Police Telecom Auditorium Wednesday.
He specially advised them to keep a close watch on key installations and gather as much information as possible on possible militant activities.
Haque, who assumed office as DMP chief on Mar 14, was being introduced to the city's police force
He told all police officers to "keep their eyes and ears open".
