Measures are being taken to restore discipline and morale among the rebel-hit ranks of Bangladesh Rifles, the newly appointed chief said on Saturday.
"It'll take time. But we are working on it," said BDR director general Brig Gen Moinul Hossain after a first meeting of the probe body into the BDR mutiny.
A 10-strong high-powered committee began investigations from Saturday into the mutiny by rebel border guards that left some 70 officers dead at the BDR Peelkhana headquarters in the capital.
Bodies were still being unearthed from shallow graves at BDR headquarters on Saturday, two days after the rebellion was quelled. Among the dead were the BDR chief Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed, and his second in command.
The home minister Sahara Khatun, who is leading the probe team, said Saturday it was aiming to submit an initial report within seven days.
Gen Moinul Hossain was appointed the new chief of the paramilitary force on Friday as his predecessor was confirmed dead.
