Rabirashmi’s cultural festival ends 31488_1
The three-day cultural festival organised by Rabirashmi, a cultural organisation, ended at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library in the city yesterday.

Rabirashmi organised the festival to celebrate its 10 years of practicing and promoting Rabindra Sangeet. The programmes featured presentation of Tagore songs and poetry by the artistes of Rabirashmi at the festival.

On the concluding day of the festival yesterday, besides musical presentation Rabirashmi staged Nrityanatya 'Shyama' at the Central Public Library.

Noted Tagore artiste and exponent Kalim Sharafi inaugurated the festival as chief guest at the Public Library on August 28.

Tagore artistes Ajit Roy, Rezwana Chowdhury Banya, Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Shorful Alam and Director of Rabirashmi Mahadev Ghosh, among others, were present at the inauguration.

This year's festival had been dedicated to the memory of recently deceased playwright, actor and director Abdullah Al Mamun. A one-minute silence was observed at the inauguration in memory of late Abdullah Al Mamun. The slogan of this year's festival was 'Ganey ganey bondhon jak tutey.'

Rabirashmi honoured Tagore artiste Rezwana Chowdhury Banya for her contribution to Tagore songs. She received Tk 10,000 and a crest.

On the second day of the festival, in the morning session Tagore songs were presented and poems recited. In the afternoon session, a discussion meeting was held on the same venue. Syed Mohammad Zobaer, Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, was present as chief guest, while artiste Sudhin Das, noted journalist and columnist Motiur Rahman Bachchu, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Rabirashmi was formed in 1998 and has been working to popularise Rabindra Sangeet in the country
