Pro-AL candidates ahead in most Upazila.................

Early results put ruling Awami League-backed candidates ahead in most of the 475 Upazila Parishad after elections on Thursday amid sporadic violence and alleged bid by the ruling MPs and ministers to influence the proceedings.

Candidates with the blessings of the party that won a historic landslide in the Dec. general elections won Rupsha of Khulna, Mohammadpur of Magura, Kachua of Bagerhat and Jamalpur Sadar.

Pro-BNP candidates won Kaukhali and Zianagar in Perojpur
